Chicago High Tech Entrepreneur Launches Incubator Chicago-Based Gaebler Ventures to Provide Investment, Infrastructure, Shared Services and Strategic Counsel to Early-Stage Companies Chicago, IL - September 5, 2001 - Chicago entrepreneur Ken Gaebler, former co-founder of VREAM Inc. and BeautyJungle.com Inc., has launched Gaebler Ventures, a full-service incubator, holding company, and private equity firm that will invest in and assist emerging Chicago-based high tech businesses. Leveraging Chicago's resource-rich environment and Gaebler's seasoned experience building successful high tech companies, Gaebler Ventures is aiding start-ups by providing early-stage seed funding and shared infrastructure and services. "In this increasingly tough economic environment, it's much more difficult to start and grow new high tech companies," said Ken Gaebler, founder, chairman and CEO of Gaebler Ventures. "For companies that have good concepts but are relatively new to entrepreneurship, it helps to have a trusted partner who has been through it before and who understands what it takes to be successful. We believe entrepreneurs who partner with us will increase their chances of success exponentially." Gaebler Ventures is building a solid foundation to develop its portfolio of start-up companies. Initial capital has been provided by a select group of investors. The company has established offices in downtown Chicago and is putting in place systems and functional teams (e.g. accounting and human resources) that can be shared by portfolio companies. Initially, Gaebler Ventures will focus on the formation of companies that will provide services to high-tech companies. As a second phase of investment, beginning in 4th Quarter 2002, Gaebler Ventures will co-invest with other private equity firms in early- and mid-stage companies that are pursuing higher-risk, higher-return business opportunities.
