How to Build an Affiliate Marketing Website

Written by Charles Mburugu for Gaebler Ventures

A well designed website is one of the most important tools for effective affiliate marketing. Which guidelines can you follow to build an effective and profitable affiliate marketing website?

Below are tips you can use when building an affiliate marketing website.

Tip #1: Have a strong headline

Regardless of how great you information and content is or how good your sales copy is, no one will take time to read it unless you captivate them with your headline. Make sure your headline is compelling enough to make someone want to take time and read your information.

Tip #2: Design your home page as a strong sales letter

The way of having a sales letter that is not too hyped up but can still 'pre-sell' is to have a kind of product 'endorsement' or 'review'. Most people are interested in the pros and cons of the product. Take time and make the home page an 'endorsement' for a good product.

Tip #3: Don't hide your links

Some 'experts' advise that there should be no other links in your site except the 'Buy Now' link. This might work – but for vendor websites, not affiliate sites. As an affiliate, your work is to pre-sell, not sell, the product. You are not trying to pressure your potential customer into buying anything; you're only trying to win their trust. The easiest way to gain their trust is to provide a lot of helpful content and useful advice. This means you will need links to all the products you are offering.

Tip #4: Provide many articles

As PPC gets more expensive, it's becoming more difficult to get good leads from search engine ads. It's also getting harder to find shortcuts to high search engine ranking. A less costly and more effective tactic is to work with search engines instead of buying into them or trying to trick them. Working with search engines means offering reviews, articles and specifications. If you provide search engines with optimized content, the search engines will send you free traffic.

Tip #5: Add other products and services to your site

Focus your site on a particular niche, and then introduce additional services and products to your site. These additions should be closely related to your site's theme. Your prospective customers are introduced to additional options in the context of a review or an article. You are showing them more ways to spend cash on you. The additional products should be high quality products that can generate a lot of money.

Tip #6: Include an FAQ section

This is one of the most powerful strategies. However, most affiliate sites do not use this strategy. Most likely, you have an idea of the most common questions asked by people. Insert them into your endorsement/sales letter/article. Use sub-headlines to highlight them. The faster your visitors can get answers through your site, the faster they will purchase from you and the more often they will re-visit your site.
