New Survey Reveals High Demand For Tablet Devices And Air Travel Among Small Business Owners

Mobile technology and travel deals top the list of purchases targeted by U.S. small business owners in the next twelve months.
Where are small business owners planning to spend their money in 2012? According to a recent survey conducted by B2B daily deals service, RapidBuyr, tablet devices and air travel lead the list of things business owners intend to drop coin on in the coming year.
RapidBuyr's Customer Choice survey found that nearly half (49%) of small business owners intend to invest in iPads and other tablet devices in the next six to twelve months. A slightly smaller number of business owners (44%) plan to invest in mobile phones.
Combined, these figures underscore entrepreneurs' perceptions about the rising importance of mobile technology in the small business arena -- an environment that demands anytime, anywhere solutions that are as flexible and agile as small business owners themselves.
In keeping with the mobility theme, many small business owners report that travel-related expenses will comprise a portion of their budgets for the coming year. More than 60% of small business owners plan to spend money on air travel this year, followed by hotel rooms (55%), restaurants (38%) and rental cars (34%).
"These results underscore just how important having access to the latest technology can be for small businesses to allow them to get more done with fewer resources," said Pete Angus, director of marketing with RapidBuyr.
The survey results may also be indicative of rising optimism in the small business community as SMBs that delayed technology purchases and avoided travel expenditures during the economic downturn start to reinvest in these areas, resuming their intentions to pursue a more mobile and agile working environment.
