In 2013, Democratic State Representative Steve Zaiser introduced a bill to raise the North Dakota minimum wage and tie it to increases in the cost of living but it was defeated. Follow-on efforts to raise the minimum wage in North Dakota have similarly been squashed by Republican legislators.
