Car-X bases its customer service on a "Five Star Service" motto covering free estimates, guarantees, high standards of workmanship, etc.

Car-X is also a philanthropic organization, with long-standing support of Big Brother/Big Sister Organizations in many markets, as well as the Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish Foundation. Local involvement, like providing scholarshops or tickets to local ballgames, is another way Car-X takes a positive approach to the community.

To be a Car-X franchisee, you need people skills and professionalism. Mechanical aptitude is helpful but not required. $90K is required, with the ability to obtain more through financing.

Car-X sometimes has a targeted area in mind, in which case they find and negotiate the lease agreement for the site. In other cases, the franchisee is responsible for site selection and lease negotiation, with support from the Car-X organization. Franchisee agreements are for 15 years, with 5% of gross sales royalty. Minimum advertising fee is 5% gross sales exclusive of Yellow Pages advertising.
