Russell Simmons' new book shows entrepreneurs the spiritual path to wealth.
Small business owners may not like to hear that business mogul, activist and bestselling author Russell Simmons finds the road to success depends more on spirituality than skill, but entrepreneur news is reporting it anyway.
In his latest book, "Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All," Simmons makes getting rich look easy, writing that a positive attitude, passion and an openness to both spiritual and material wealth are the qualities one needs to succeed, CNN Money writes.
However, owners looking for help with writing business plans and applying financing may want to look elsewhere, as Simmons characterizes his books as a guide to "spiritual enlightenment," an attribute that marks the quickest way to riches.
One of the main tenets of Simmons book, the source notes, is investing in something you believe in. "I'm an entrepreneur who is moved by passion, but not numbers. I am constantly being approached with business ideas that will make money, but if I don't believe in the business, I won't do it," Simmons told CNN.
For small businesses looking for a little more concrete help in launching their ventures, they may want to consider seeking out Small Business Administration programs such as SCORE and Small Business Development Centers.
