Tennessee Chamber Of Commerce Hands Out Awards For 2010

Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce Office of Small Business Development gives awards to various entrepreneurs
A chamber of commerce in Tennessee named the top small businesses in the community at an award ceremony last week.
The Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce Office of Small Business Development made news for entrepreneurs after it announced the winners of the 2010 Annual KOSBE at an event in Kingsports, with Picsee Studio taking home the top prize for Young Entrepreneur of the year. Other winners included Style Custom Framing & Gifts for the New Business award, for businesses with a minimum of 12 and maximum of 36 months in operation. The runner-up for the prize was Fleet Feet Sports.
Taking home the prize for female-owned business of the year was Hair Benders Salon, owned by Shelia Ferguson. Women must own at least 51 percent of the business to qualify for the award. One of the most coveted prizes handed out was the Impact Award, given to Dava Snyder, an employee of the Village at Allandale, for being an "outstanding" small business advocate.
"Ms. Snyder deserves the Impact Award because of the impact she has had on elders, families, staff and the community," said Snyder's boss and Village at Allandale owner Steven Todd Miller. "Her goal in life is to enhance the lives of elders in their valuable later years when often people fail to give them the honor and recognition they deserve."
Award ceremonies are some of the best ways for small businesses to increase the amount of exposure they get. The prize will show people in the community that a brand delivers above-average service.
