Hot Retail Trends Include Organic Groceries, High End Fitness Apparel And Mobile

List of the nation's fastest growing retail brands points to the retail trends that are scoring big points with consumers.
Organic food, high-end exercise apparel and mobile technology are some of the hottest retail trends in the U.S. right now, according to STORES Hot 100 Retailers' list.
The annual Hot 100 Retailers' List ranks public and private companies with sales in excess of $300 million. This year's list showed that Sprouts' Farmers Market, Lululemon and Under Armour are the fastest growing retailers in the nation, reporting the largest year-over-year gains in retail sales.
"The list of the fastest-growing retailers is in sync with current shopping trends as these merchants have a razor sharp focus on today's consumer. Among the top ten are retailers that cater to shoppers' desire for smaller footprint organic supermarkets, high-end workout apparel and luxury accessories, and even online shopping," said STORES Media Editor Susan Reda. "Not surprisingly, Verizon Wireless, Apple Stores and AT&T Wireless round out the mix -- a clear indicator of how important smartphone devices have become."
Strongest Sustained Retailers
The Hot 100 Retailers' list also identified the nation's strongest sustained retail brands. Each of the brands named to this list have appeared on the STORES Hot 100 list for seven consecutive years.
Rated in order of average annual growth with 2012 ranking in parenthesis, the list includes:

- 2. Ascena Retail Group (95)
- 3. O'Reilly Automotive (85)
- 4. Urban Outfitters (18)
- 5. Tractor Supply Co. (22)
- 6. Dick's Sporting Goods (18)
- 7. J.Crew Group (79)
- 8. Dollar Tree (35)
- 9. Jos. A Bank Clothiers (28)
- 10. Walgreen (72)
- 11. Ross Stores (58)
- 12. PetSmart (87)
Although the list of hot retailers offers valuable information about current retail trends, would-be retail entrepreneurs need to keep in mind that successful startups begin by constructing a business model that is properly aligned with their personal business goals and local market realities.
