Study: Small Businesses See Wireless Technology As Necessary For Survival

AT&T reveals that small businesses are increasingly dependent on wireless technology.
A study from AT&T has revealed some important technology news for entrepreneurs who want to stay connected.
The company's Small Business Technology poll found that wireless technologies are increasingly being seen as crucial for the survival of today's growing businesses.
According to the survey, nearly two-thirds of businesses (65 percent) said it would be a major challenge to survive - or they could not survive at all - without wireless technology.
This number illustrates a rapid increase in the perceived importance of wireless technology. In a similar AT&T study from 2007, only 42 percent of businesses said it would be difficult to survive without it.
Timothy Doherty, associate research analyst for SMB Mobility, called wireless technology "a critical business tool that allows mobile workers to stay in touch with colleagues and customers, and to access company data on the move."
Location also played a role in how small businesses view and use wireless technology, with the Atlanta area ranking first out of 10 markets surveyed.
Meanwhile, executives from AT&T are pushing for the continued growth of wireless broadband technology, according to a report from CNET.
CEO Randall Stephenson and AT&T Mobility head Ralph de la Vega each discussed this agenda at the CTIA 2010 trade show in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
