The company was founded with the aim of creating an entirely new class of cardiac support devices to improve the care of the rapidly-growing number of people with heart failure. Since many patients needing cardiac support also suffer from mitral valve regurgitation, (a leaking mitral valve), the company is also developing a minimally-invasive device to correct this to be used in combination with the cardiac support device, or on a stand-alone basis.
