Starting a Personal Development Company

Interview with Dr. Matt Mannino, Founder of Source Trainings

After growing his own business, Dr. Matt Mannino began to help others transform themselves personally and professionally.

Dr. Matt Mannino founded Source Trainings in 2006 in Gilbert, Arizona.

Tell me about your current business. What are you doing exactly?

Source Trainings is a faith based personal development company that helps individuals create transformation personally and professionally. Offering a unique blend of science and spirit, accelerated learning techniques, experiential presentations, and divine direction students are able to experience and create breakthrough in their lives.

How did you come up with your business idea?

After attending numerous personal growth programs and consulting with different coaches for the growth of my personal business, I noticed there were key elements of success missing from those trainings. With a current background in the neurosciences, supernatural principles, and business development I expanded my current training company by creating 4 unique personal growth programs to address what other companies were not teaching as it pertains to creating permanent transformation on all three levels of our being: body, soul, and spirit.

What were you doing before this, and is this your first business?

I grew my Chiropractic business to the top 1% in the world, seeing 1000 patients per week. My business success led me into business coaching/consulting for entrepreneurs.

Who did you hire to help you? Bookkeeper, Accountants, Lawyers ...? Would you suggest others do the same?

The most important people you can hire are those who will personally take on an "ownership" mindset for your company. If you can empower those that work for you, regardless of position to be innovative creators and problem solvers, your entrepreneurial journey will be much more successful.

With the current economy in a slump, what cost saving tips would you have for a new entrepreneur?

When it comes to growing your business, your wealth is in your relationships. Instead of spending money on costly marketing concentrate on building relationships and becoming an irreplaceable resource for others.

How has your experience in running the business been different from what you expected?

I didn't realize there could be so much personal reward and joy from seeing people's lives change for the better. This higher purpose keeps me moving through the every day challenges and pushing the limits within myself. I truly have become the student as well on different levels.

What advice do you have for entrepreneurs?

1. Set up a strong organizational base that will support the growth of your company. Your company will only grow as big as the foundation that it is built on.
2. Get a coach that will expand your thinking and hold you accountable to creating results personally and professionally.

How about some advice for those who want to start a business similar to yours?

First, the more you invest in yourself personally, the more your business will grow. Second, surround yourself and work with others who believe in your vision. Finally, build relationships.

Great ideas, Matt. Thank you for taking the time to share them with other entrepreneurs.
