Overview
The world is spending billions of dollars building data center capacity, but GPUs only average around 20% utilization. The reason for this inefficiency is surprisingly simple: GPUs aren't virtualized. Meanwhile, CPUs, storage, and other types of hardware are all efficiently shared through virtualization. At Thunder Compute, we've built a new way to virtualize GPUs. This began as a research prototype, which we have spent the last four years getting ready for production.
