Overview

Niccolo and Michele started FACEIT in 2011 and bootstrapped it for five years, building product and community one player at a time. Between 2016 and 2019 they raised $30M from Index Ventures, Makers Fund and Anthos Capital, and opened offices in London and Santa Monica. When lockdown moved the world online, competitive gaming moved with it, and FACEIT organically grew past 30 million users. In 2022, on the road to an IPO, Saudi Arabia's PIF acquired FACEIT and ESL for $1.5B, creating the largest esports company in the world. A further roll-up followed. Insiders began quietly, one founder at a time. It remains deliberately small: a short list of builders we would have wanted beside us, and the backing we believe every founder deserves.
