Marketing a Department Store

You're heavily invested in the success of your department store and failure isn't an option. That means you'll also need to invest yourself in the strategies and techniques it takes to effectively market your brand in the marketplace.

If you have never bundled before, take out word for it - most department stores can leverage bundling to improve sales and attract new customers to the brand. Since the bundling concept is based on discounts, consumers expect to pay less for the bundle than they would if they were to buy the products separately, so you'll need to make sure your bundle offers real value to buyers.

Inexperience and a lack of industry connections have an isolating effect on owners of a department store. Although there is a tendency to believe that the challenges you face are unique to your business, your competitors face many of the same marketing hurdles and obstacles. To overcome those obstacles, you'll need to tap into industry resources. Trade associations, business networks, and other venues usually offer resources to help you improve your marketing skills. If possible, establish a mentoring relationship with an experienced industry veteran.
