Inc. magazine offers some advice for small businesses owners who want to cash in on the Twitter frenzy.

According to eMarketer, American businesses will spend billions this year on social media advertisement campaigns. At the same time, small businesses are reportedly unconvinced about the efficacy of social media in making cash.

Entrepreneur Marketing Payoff

It may be useful news for small business owners that social media experts at Inc. magazine have a few tips on how marketers can make money off of Twitter in 2010.

One strategy is to sell products for Twitter. Even if Twitter lets users send and receive messages for free, Inc. suggests that people will buy applications that make it easy to use Twitter remotely. Twitter allows companies to create software that organizes tweets in real time, giving entrepreneurs the potential to add countless functions to software they can sell.

SMBs can also use Twitter to find customers anywhere. With an international body of users, the social network gives entrepreneurs the unique opportunity to cater to a larger geographical customer base than they would find elsewhere.

Small business owners might need to find consumers wherever they can this season; ABC News reported that its consumer confidence index for 2009 was the worst year on record.
