When It Comes To Facebook Marketing, Think Tuesday

A recent study found that click-through rates for a brand's Facebook wall posts are highest on Tuesdays.

A recent study from MediaPost and social media services provider Vitrue had news for small business owners that are using Facebook for marketing and customer relationship management - pay attention to Tuesdays.

Entrepreneur Marketing ROI

The study found that click-through rates for wall posts on marketers' Facebook pages were the highest in the beginning of the week - Monday through Wednesday averaged 9.72 percent before dropping to 4.39 percent on Thursday and 2.7 percent on Friday and Saturday - with Tuesday seeing the highest click-through rate, at 9.89 percent.

The study suggests that the trend may be extrapolated not just to a brand's wall posts, but also to promotions and events launched on Facebook. If this is the case, marketers may want to concentrate their marketing efforts on Tuesdays, or at least in the beginning of the week.

However, this theory should not be applied too strictly, said Vitrue CEO Reggie Bradford.

"The point isn't to say only do wall posts on Tuesdays," he said. "The point is that there are differences among days of the week and thinking has to happen behind the wall posts so you can maximize the impact."

Facebook is the top social media website used by businesses, commanding 74 percent of marketing attention, according to a survey from the Association of National Advertisers, BtoB Magazine and the marketing services firm mktg.
