As a business owner, your ultimate goal is to get sales. Research shows that there are certain words and phrases you can use to help you accomplish this goal.

Words That Sell

These words are called "power words" and have a proven effect on buyers and how they make their purchasing decisions. This information is imperative to a business owner for the development of marketing and promotional materials targeted to get your customers and potential customers to buy your products or services.

"You" or "Your"

People what to know what your product or service can do for them specifically. Using the words "you" or "your" makes buyers feel important and that the product or service was created specifically for them or their situation. Research has shown that these two words are the number one power words when it comes to marketing.

"Guaranteed"

Buyers feel more secure when there is a guarantee on their purchase and the money they invested. Let them know your services or products are guaranteed to produce certain results or will work for a certain time frame, otherwise they can get their money back. This ensures them that you aren't some fly by night scam artist just trying to take their money and that they will get what they paid for.

"Fast"

In today's society, people are accustomed to getting instant results. The fast paced and on the go lives that most people lead calls for just as fast results so they can get on living. With the internet delivering information and products and services at the touch of a of a button, consumers love the idea of getting what they buy fast.

"Easy" or "Simple"

Buyers don't want to complicate their lives any more than it already is. Consumers already lead busy lives and just don't have the time to deal with complicated and laborious purchases. Products and services that are easy and simple fit right in with their busy lifestyles.

"Free"

Everyone loves a bargain. Getting something for free is the ultimate discount. Consumers see or hear this word and automatically pay closer attention to what's being said.

"Limited"

This word is the ultimate motivation to get consumers to buy. People can't stand the thought of missing out on a deal. You could use "limited" in your marketing campaign to either refer to quantity or time or both.

"New"

Consumers love to feel like they are getting the latest and most up to date products and services available. This is true particularly true in the technology and fashion industry. This word will prompt certain consumers to buy products and services even if they don't need them.

Using these "power words" in your marketing and promotional campaigns will have a direct effect on your sales results. When using them, be mindful that consumers will expect you to make good on your promises. The last thing you want is to develop a reputation that you are a scamming and untrustworthy businessperson.
