Flea Market to International Market

Written by Rayzelle Forrest Young for Gaebler Ventures

Explains how to use the internet to take your business from flea market to international market.

Many businesses that started out at flea markets have since moved on to become international successes.

By using the internet and a well developed website you too can expand your flea market business globally. The same products that you sell at flea markets can be shipped anywhere in the world for those customers that are out of your local area. Expanding your flea market business to have an internet presence can significantly increase your business revenue if it is done right.

The best way to take your flea market business international is to set up a website. Websites can be accessed anywhere in the world by anyone who has a computer with internet access. This means that your once local California flea market business can now sell products to someone in Australia or anywhere else in the world.

Post pictures on your website of the items that you are selling. People are more likely to buy things when they can see a picture of it. Make sure you post high quality photos on your website. If pictures are blurry, customers and potential customers may get discouraged and choose not to buy from you.

Set your website up to be able to take payments over the internet. You will increase your customer base by adding this feature. In today's fast paced society, internet customers are use to instantaneous results. Equipping your website to be able to take payments over the internet gives buyers the opportunity to start the buying process immediately. You will lose some customers if their only buying option is by calling in and purchasing. People get busy and forget and sometimes won't remember until they either don't have the money anymore or just plain change their minds about buying.

Set up a "Contact us" page for your business website. Provide a way for your internet customers to get in contact with you by both phone and email. This option is also good for those who don't feel comfortable with purchasing over the internet and would prefer to do it over the phone.

Market your business all over the world. Craigslist is a great online classified ads website that will allow you to post ads to almost anywhere in the world. You can also set up social networking accounts such as twitter and face book in order to develop an international customer base for your business.

Expanding your business from a local flea market to an international customer base is not as hard as it may seem. With the help of the internet and a good website you can take orders for your products from anywhere in the world.
