Media Database Providers

Media database providers simplify your company's PR tasks. With a lot of options to choose from, the hardest part is deciding which media database provider is right for you. We'll get you started with a short list of providers who we think are definitely worth considering.

Media databases are useful tools in any entrepreneur's PR toolbox.

Media Database Providers

Too many of the problems associated with small and medium-sized business PR boil down to the entrepreneur's inability to identify the right media outlet or media contacts. Media database providers help you easily identify the media professionals who will be most interested in your pitches, press releases, and story ideas.

However, not all media database providers offer the same quality or level of service to their clients. Before you commit to a provider, you'll need to do your research. The outcome of your entire PR strategy could hinge on your provider's ability to quickly qualify a list of targeted media contacts.

There are a handful of media database providers that we think should be on everyone's short list. Although these providers might not be right for everyone, there's a good chance that your company's next media contact database could come from one of these four firms.

Cision

Started in 1932 as "Bacon Books", Cision is the industry leader with one million contacts, outlets, and editorial opportunities, updated 18,000 times a day. Their main product is called CisionPoint, a fully integrated, scalable on-demand software solution. Their offerings are designed to offer PR assistance in four key areas: Planning stories, connect with audiences, monitor media coverage and analyze results.

MEDIAtlas

MEDIAtlas is a web-based global media database and automated distribution system that enables you to identify and communicate with the journalists who can tell your company's story to the world. The standard package features 500,000 media contacts that are updated daily. Other features include an editorial calendar module, additional media opportunities, and a summary of the last five articles written by tens of thousands of journalists.

MyMediaInfo

MyMediaInfo may not be as flashy as some of the other media database providers, but it gets the job done. Their search tools make it easy to build targeted media lists, outlet lists, or editorial story opportunities. MyMediaInfo also includes one click Excel reporting and custom reports. You can download a targeted media list into Excel, Adobe or create mailing labels - it's up to you.

BurrellesLuce

BurrellesLuce offers three kinds of PR services for business leaders. Media Contacts manages media relations outreach and press release distribution, Media Monitoring tracks your company's media coverage, and Media Measurement measures your media impact.
